December 2013 Astrology Forecast: Transformational Intensity & Relationship Reflection

Astrology Forecast

Headlines

December will be an intense month, with several planets and challenging T-squares activating the volatile Uranus-Pluto square. Drop your excess baggage and follow your intuitive flashes!

Reflect on your key relationships as Venus begins a six-week retrograde. A Jupiter-Saturn trine adds some harmonious balance into the mix, we have a New Moon in Sagittarius and a Full Moon in Gemini, and — as always in December — the Sun enters Capricorn to mark the Winter Solstice.

12/7. Mars enters Libra thru 7/25
12/8. T-square peaks: Vesta-Uranus-Pluto

12/17. Uranus turns direct
12/21. Sun enters Capricorn (Winter Solstice)
12/21. Venus Retrograde
12/21. T-square peaks: Vesta-Jupiter-Pluto
12/25. Mars opposes Uranus
12/27. T-square peaks: Mars-Uranus-Pluto
12/30. T-square peaks: Sun-Mars-Uranus-Pluto
12/30. T-square peaks: Mercury-Mars-Uranus-Pluto

The Story So Far

As December opens, we have two retrograde planets: Uranus thru 12/17 and Jupiter thru 3/6. And the pervasive energies of revolutionary transformation (a Uranus-Pluto square), as well as universal love, compassion and spiritual awakening (Neptune in Pisces), remain powerful for years to come!

Concise Forecast

I don’t usually include this “Concise Forecast” section in these monthly posts. But since I had already written a December forecast for Natural Awakenings, I figured I’d go ahead and include it.

See my weekly forecasts for expanded interpretations and additional events.

December’s New Moon is on 12/2 at 7:22 PM (10°59′ Sagittarius). New beginnings in higher education, immersion in foreign cultures, religion and the meaning of life are energized. So are enthusiasm, joy, celebration and exuberance! Release everything that doesn’t serve you in these areas, embrace revolutionary transformation, and trust your intuitive flashes!

This New Moon’s Sabian Symbol is, “In the left section of an archaic temple, a lamp burns in a container shaped like a human body.” This lamp can represent the inextinguishable divine flame — our true being — that animates our transitory three-dimensional bodies. “Left” signifies our receptive polarity. And the “archaic temple” signifies the ancient religions that helped their adherents experience their true spiritual essence.

Fresh energy is available for relationships and creative expression from 12/7 all the way through 7/25.

Ready for revolutionary transformation in how you serve a higher cause? Then, as I wrote in my 11/24 forecast, stay flexible and open to your inner guidance during the T-square formed by Vesta, Uranus and Pluto. It began on 11/24, peaks on 12/8 and ends on 12/21.

You may be called to take your service to a new level. Or, on the opposite extreme, you may be called to abandon your current path and switch to something completely new. The waxing or waning of your enthusiasm will be a reliable indicator.

Balancing opposite polarities – expansion vs. contraction, innovation vs. consistency – is supported throughout December, and most strongly around 12/12.

Confusion in what action to take could arise around 12/13. If so, relax your intellect and ask for intuitive guidance from within. This could apply particularly to relationships and creativity. This energy also supports worldly activities that make conscious use of divine energy, such as sacred sex and ecstatic dance.

December’s Full Moon shines forth on 12/17 at 4:28 AM (25°36′ Gemini). Check how “full-filled” you are in the areas of learning, communication, writing, thinking, playfulness and variety.

This Full Moon’s Sabian Symbol is, “Guests are reading in the library of a luxurious home.” This suggests allowing yourself to be comfortable while exploring new concepts.

Stretching your spiritual activities beyond the intellect and into direct experience of the inner realms is supported throughout December, especially around 12/17. This is also an excellent time to heal and harmonize any contentious family issues.

An intense energy of revolutionary transformation heats up through the second half of December, peaking on 12/27. Avoid accidents and conflict by exercising extra caution and avoiding volatile situations.

The Sun enters Capricorn, marking the Winter Solstice, on 12/21 at 12:11 PM. Take Capricorn’s energy to the high side by focusing on maturity, responsibility, discipline and good time management.

Venus turns retrograde on 12/21. Until she turns direct again on 1/31, you can reflect productively on relationships, finances and creativity. This is a better time for contemplation in these areas than initiation.

Be on your best behavior on Christmas, since this date features some highly volatile energies. Harness them positively by acting immediately on your intuitive flashes! This would be a great year to shake up how you celebrate the holidays.

The magical energy of a Mystic Rectangle starts fading in on 12/27. Although it won’t peak until 1/22, this aspect pattern’s empowerment of healing, mentoring, celebration and positive transformation will start working its mojo in late December. Diplomatic assertiveness, inspired advance planning and inspiration in everyday matters is also energized.

Thinking outside the box is energized the last week of December, especially around 12/30.

December’s final week features extraordinarily powerful energies of revolutionary transformation, peaking on 12/30. If the status quo is challenged, it’s probably because it’s time for a new and better structure to take its place.

These energies are most likely to arise in the areas of personal development, family structures, relationships, creative expression, business matters and reputation. Make innovation and adventurousness your year-end keywords!

Void-of-Course Moons

It’s best to avoid starting important new projects or making major purchases during these times. “Business as usual” is the best strategy for these periods, which occur when the Moon has made its last major Ptolemaic aspect but has not yet moved into the next sign.

12/1, 8:34 pm – 12/2, 1:33 am (Sagittarius)
12/3, 10:46 pm – 12/4, 1:51 am (Capricorn)

12/7, 7:12 am – 12/8, 3:36 am (Pisces)
12/10, 1:42 am – 8:07 am (Aries)
12/12, 10:38 am – 3:42 pm (Taurus)
12/14, 9:55 pm – 12/15, 1:42 am (Gemini)
12/17, 4:29 am – 1:18 pm (Cancer)
12/19, 11:37 pm – 12/20, 1:49 am (Leo)
12.22, 8:26 am – 2:20 pm (Virgo)

12/27, 6:01 am – 8:59 am (Scorpio)
12/29, 8:55 am – 12:39 pm (Sagittarius)
12/30, 6:37 am – 12/31, 1:03 pm (Capricorn)
